Camil Meseguer Rioux

Camil Meseguer Rioux was born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, in 1987. He is a traditional musician who learned Son Jarocho from his father starting at the age of 3 and began formal violin studies at the age of 6 at the CIMI music school (Centro de Iniciación Musical Infantil) of the Universidad Veracruzana.
He is a founder of the group Sonex (since 2004) and has represented Mexico in countries such as Israel, Russia, Germany, the United States, Chile, and Haiti, performing at rock, jazz, folklore, and world music festivals.
He has collaborated with artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Los Lobos, Ojos de Brujo, Café Tacvba, iLan Bar-Lavi, Panagiotis Andreu, Pierre Nicaisse, Biomigrant & El Monte Adentro, among others. A cultural manager and executive director of La Casa de Nadie, AC, a cultural center for the promotion and dissemination of the arts in all its forms, since 2011. He performed as a soloist with Los Lobos and Rubén Albarrán at the Vive Latino Festival 2024. He is currently working on his original music project and organizing the 20th-anniversary celebrations of Sonex.
